Alaafin Is A Core Disciplinarian, He Does Not Pamper Any Of His Children- Daughter, Princess Folashade Adeyemi

Princess Folashade Adeyemi, the eldest daughter of the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi has revealed that the respected Oyo monarch is a strict disciplinarian that does not indulge in frivolities or pamper his children.

She added that the monarch is a core family man that attends to the physical and emotional needs of his immediate family without neglecting any of them.

“While growing up, even though we were born with silver spoon, it was not always available when we needed it; he took the privileges of the silver spoon away as at, when necessary, when we were growing up. He is a disciplinarian”.

Speaking on her relationship with the monarch’s wives, “We relate with them very well and they accord us our due respect as the king’s sons and daughters”.

She further stated that she found it difficult to adapt to the Nigeria culture on her return to Nigeria after spending more than two decades in the United States of America.

She said, “Upon my return to Nigeria, the pressure was much, people wanted me to be articulate like the Alaafin, I had to relearn and blend in order to fit back into the Nigerian society”.

She further described her father as a principled and straightforward man, who taught all his children to believe in themselves describing the monarch as a great respecter of the law, who believes in the power of the law when carrying out delicate actions.

The cultural advocate made these revelations while featuring on a weekly radio show, Ayekooto on Radio’ anchored by Olayinka Agboola and broadcast live on Lagelu 96.7FM, Felele Ibadan, the capital city of Oyo State’s recently.

The cultural enthusiast further revealed that she had to relocate to Nigeria in order to integrate and expose her daughter to the Yoruba and Nigerian culture, language and educational system.

Speaking on her role as a cultural enthusiast, “I have a non-governmental foundation where I help the less privilege. We also use culture to support concerned government agencies, promote the economy, and help integrate people back to the society”.

The revered monarch’s daughter further added that drastic steps should be taken before agitating for an independent Yoruba state, adding that “sacrifices and invocations should be done to appease the gods of the land before we can successfully achieve this”.

She, however, urged Nigerians to watch and vote wisely during the next election sessions, adding that there are not much differences between the two major parties in Nigeria.

“Both the Peoples Democratic Party and the All Progressives Party are almost the same thing. Our people should base their decisions on the credibility statuses of the candidates contesting for elective positions.

The princess who, along the line contested twice for electoral positions without succeeding further stated that she has quit partisan politics in order to focus her attention to other critical areas of life, revealing that she is more interested in contributing her quotas to the development of the society and the welfare of humanity.
