The gubernatorial candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress(APC) in Ekiti State, Mr Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji has urged politicians and their supporters to remain peaceful before, during and after the June 18 poll.
Oyebanji admonished the political actors to shun vicious acts capable of throwing the state into violence, saying election of an individual doesn’t not worth the blood or life of any Ekiti citizen.
He made the appeal in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital yesterday while receiving in audience the coalition of civil society organisation and Stop Violence Against Women in Politics Ambassador, Ini Edo, who were on advocacy visit.
Ini Edo was accompanied on the visit by the Executive Directors of Balm in Gilead Foundation for Sustainable Development (BIGIF), Tunmininu Adedeji and the Women Development Initiative (NIGAWD), Mrs Abimbola Aladejare-Salako.
He assured the team of his party’s resolve to play according to the dictates of the game towards deepening the country’s democratic process, saying that the APC has been running holistic issued-based campaign that brings greater promises to Ekiti people.
Oyebanji appealed to other participating political parties and their supporters to be more circumspect in their utterances and activities so as not to overheat the polity and tinker with peaceful ambience in the state.
“I’m so excited today to identify with this noble campaign which centres around peaceful election, non-violence against women in politics and empowerment of Nigerian youths.
“Again, I’m using this opportunity to call on political leaders and their followers to ensure peaceful election come June 18 because no election is worth the blood of any Ekiti man or woman.
