The All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives primary election for Ekiti Central Federal constituency 2 was declared inconclusive on Friday following violent disruption of the exercise by thugs.

The exercise which was disrupted as a result of discrepancies in the election results led to the injury of the returning officer Akinwale Alebiosu.

Speaking, House of Representatives member, Omowumi Ogunlola, seeking re-election ticket accused the agents of the former Chief of Staff to Governor Kayode Fayemi, Mr Biodun Omoleye, of masterminding the violence.

She said, “It was in the course of delegates casting their votes that the personal assistant to the former COS came to intercept what they were doing and took possession of some of the ballot boxes and tore the papers.

“The exercise was inconclusive. So, it is normal we have to go all over again. My appeal to the party is that they should conduct a primary for the constituency because we have limited time.

Similarly, the agent of Mr. Dele Philips, another Rep. aspirant stated that the event unfolded like a drama when the agent of Biodun Omoleye destroyed the ballot box and began to create confusion at an election which was going on smoothly before being disrupted.

Reacting to this development, an aspirant, Mr. Dele Philips expressed worry that such a situation could affect the party at a time the party is moving towards gubernatorial election.

He, however, stated that he would win the primary election if it is conducted without violence and rigging.
