A number of top entertainers were in Ijebu Ijesha, Osun State, on Saturday, May 28, 2022, for the funeral of the late singer and saxophonist, Julius Ekemode, aka Orlando Julius. The service was held at the Saint Matthew’s Church in the town.
On Friday, a Christian wake was held at Oke Agboja, also in Ijebu Ijesha.
Some of the notable figures at the ceremonies were award-winning filmmaker Tunde Kelani; chairman of the Copyright Society of Nigeria, Tony Okoroji; a former president of the Performing Musicians Association Nigeria, Tee Mac Iseli; director, Richard Cole; and singer, Yinka Davies.
Recall that Julius passed away on April 15, 2022. His wife, Latoya Ekemode, revealed that he died in his sleep. She said, “Yes, my husband passed on late last night. There was no indication that death was coming (because) he was not ill. He only slept (normally) and died in his sleep.”
Some of the legendary singer’s albums were Disco Hi-Life, Ololufe and Dance Afrobeat.
