World’s biggest YouTuber, Jimmy Donaldson, popularly known as MrBeast, has married his longtime partner, Thea Booysen, in an intimate wedding ceremony on Richard Branson’s private Necker Island in the British Virgin Islands.
The couple, both 28, exchanged vows before about 70 close friends and family members after a week-long celebration that began on July 14, featuring activities such as snorkelling and kitesurfing on the 74-acre island resort.
Unlike the elaborate spectacles that have made MrBeast the world’s most-subscribed YouTuber, the wedding was deliberately kept private, with no livestream or content production surrounding the event.
Sharing photos from the ceremony on Instagram, on Tuesday, Donaldson announced the milestone, writing, “I found MrsBeast. And it was the best day of my life.”
According to People, Booysen wore a custom Nicole + Felicia Couture wedding gown, while Donaldson was dressed in a Ralph Lauren tuxedo. Their first dance was to Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars’ hit song, Die With a Smile, before guests enjoyed a reception featuring sushi, Wagyu beef, seafood and Booysen’s favourite carrot cake.
Reflecting on the celebration, Booysen described the experience as unforgettable.
“This is cliché, but it was heaven,” she said.
“We were so happy, and there was so much love. We work a lot and don’t get to be around all our friends and family, so to have everyone in one place was really special. We decided we want to start doing something like this every year, where we put aside a week to have our friends and family join us to spend time together.”
She also praised her husband for making everyone feel welcome.
“Jimmy really went out of his way to make all the guests super comfortable and feel included, and got to know my extended family, and it was all so incredibly special. It just made me love him all the more,” she added.
The couple first met in South Africa in 2022 through a mutual friend while Donaldson was visiting the country.
They bonded over their shared interest in learning and gaming before beginning a long-distance relationship. Donaldson proposed on Christmas Day in 2024 with both families present.
Ahead of the wedding, Donaldson had said he wanted the occasion to remain a private family celebration rather than another online production.
“This will definitely be more family and friends, definitely more private,” he previously said. “It will be the ultimate way to take some time away and enjoy things.”
