A Non-governmental organization, Western Youth Development Forum (WYDEF) has conferred an honorary award on the Oyo State chairman, Association of Primary School Head Teachers of Nigeria (AOPSHON) Comrade Adedeji Adekunle Babatunde.
The award ceremony which was held at the NUT House, Oluyole, Ibadan, the capital city of Oyo State on Wednesday attracted many dignitaries from the educational sector.
Speaking, WYDEF National President, Comrade Oyedele Sunday further charged Governors and members of the National Assembly from the South Western part of the country to work in synergy in order to boost the security and economic activities of the region.
He further charged the youths of the country to desist from crime and unhealthy vices capable of ruining their future while urging them to be good ambassadors to the country.
He said, “Lack of cooperation and synergy among politicians from the South west is worsening the developmental growth of our region and is seriously affecting the development of our youths.
Continuing, “We are therefore calling on all the elected representatives from the region irrespective of their political differences, the elites and the business class to work in synergy to boost security and economic activities of the region.
We need a new orientation and resolutions rooted in all cooperation, forgiveness, love, compassion and to do away with unhealthy competitions and embrace collaborations”.
Speaking on the aims of the organization “Western Youth Development Forum is a youth-oriented movement that spans across the all the sixth western state states in Nigeria. Our aims are to contribute our own quotas to the development of our region, tackle youth unemployment and to empower them”.
He further praised Comrade Adedeji Adekunle Babatunde for his unrelenting effort to the progress of the educational sector and AOPSHON in general while urging him not to relent in his efforts.
In his remark, Comrade Adedeji further appreciated God, mentor, NUT, and his parents for training him to be steadfast and be of good character while appreciating WYDEF for recognizing his contributions to the growth of educational sector in the country.
He, however, reiterated his continual support to the progress of WYDEF, AOPSHON and the youths of the country.
Speaking, Prince Samson Adedoyin, former state chairman, Nigeria of Teachers (NUT), Oyo state wing commended WYDEF for the award conferred on Comrade Adekunle for his meritorious services while charging him to be a good ambassador to the youths.
