The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Dollar Construction Company, Engr. Idowu Lamidi has revealed that repeated building collapses in the country can be attributed to sharp unethical practices by stakeholders in the building industry.

He said, “Every building has a life span. At the commencement of any building, a soil test is usually carried out to determine the type of damp-proof course popularly known as foundation, upon which the house will be laid.

He continued “failure to undergo a soil test might bring about a collateral damage to the building. Afterwards, the result of the soil test will be forwarded to the government for onward approval before the structural engineer will give his professional advice on the type of structure to erect on the land”.

The Oyo town-born trained Engineer made this revelation while featuring on a weekly radio show, Parrot Xtra/Ayekooto on Radio anchored by Olayinka Agboola and broadcast live on Splash 105.5FM, Felele Ibadan, the capital city of Oyo State recently.

Speaking on how he ventured into estate management business, he submitted “When I arrived in Ibadan during the COVID-19 pandemic, I took interest in hotel construction because there were not many good hotels back then in Ibadan, but afterwards, I saw that many standard hotels began springing up.

“I decided to redirect my focus to building and managing of housing estates because of the many deficiencies facing housing system in Ibadan. Some people even told us that Ibadan residents may not be able to afford buying our properties.”

He further stated that estate management should be well planned and executed in order to solve the problem of housing deficit in the country.

His words, “Housing and Estate planning should not be done haphazardly, in advanced countries, basic amenities such as good road networks, electricity, pipe borne water, security are always provided when planning an estate.

He further stated that the idea behind Dollar Estate Construction began when he went for internship in Abuja while revealing that the late Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi was one of those who really contributed to his success story.

“I got the idea when I went to do my internship in Gwarimpa, Abuja and I decided to pick interest in real estate. Oba Lamidi Adeyemi used his connection, ideas, goodwill to support me”

He, however, added that Dollar construction has ongoing housing estate projects, which will be available for let out in Alafara, Jericho, Elenusonso with basic infrastructural amenities.
