Nigerian striker, Odion Ighalo, is delighted to have added the Lusail Super Cup winners medal to his collections following Al Hilal’s triumph over Zamalek on Friday.

The former Manchester United striker had previously won the Saudi Arabian League and the Chinese Cup.

Ighalo opened the scoring in the 18th minute for the Saudi champions Al Hilal, chipping over the keeper from the edge of the fans to send the travelling Saudi fans into rupture at the Lusail Stadium in Qatar.

But Ahmed Sayed equalised for the Egyptians in the 33rd minute who were able to withstand a barrage of attacks by Al Hilal in the second half.

The match ended 1-1 in normal time in front of more than 77,000 fans but it was Al Hilal who prevailed in the shootouts scoring all four kicks while Zamalek were only able to convert one.

“Lusail Super Cup winner. Champions God is the greatest,” Ighalo wrote on Instagram.

The goal was his third of the season.

His first goal of the season came in the 2-0 season-opening win against Al-Khaleej at Prince Mohamed bin Fahd Stadium on August 25 and the second was at the same venue, another 2-0 win against Al Feiha on September 4.

Last season, Ighalo who moved to Al Hilal from Al Shabab, managed 13 appearances in the top-flight and scored 12 goals.
