A middle-aged man simply identified as Qudus was over the weekend killed and burnt inside his car at Okanla village’s palace, via Ilobu community in Osun State, following the lingering communal clash between Ilobu and Ifon communities over disputed land.

The Nation recalls that an indigene of Ilobu community named Sodiq was killed on Saturday on one of the disputed land named Opara by gunmen. The community alleged that Ifon people carried out their threat by killing him. However, Ifon indigenes denied the allegation.

An indigene of Okanla, a village between Ilobu and Ifon, was killed by suspected arsonists who murdered him, dragged him into his vehicle and set it ablaze.

A security source confirmed that the suspected arsonists invaded the palace of Olokanla of Okanla (a land settlement belonging to Ilobu), but met the victim simply identified as Qudus on the scene. He was killed inside and his body was dragged into a car before it was set ablaze.

Osun police spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola confirmed the killing of Qudus.

Following the incident, Governor Ademola Adeleke has declared curfew in the two warring communities.

Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi, said in a statement on Sunday evening that government had imposed curfew on the affected communities to enforce law and order.
