Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State has advised Corps members to promote development through unity and integration to achieve the goal of establishing the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme.

Governor Oyebanji who gave the advice at the Ise/ Emure/Orun Ekiti orientation Camp during the swearing  ceremony of the  2023 Batch ‘C’ Stream two Corps members deployed to Ekiti State also stressed the need for Corps members to see themselves as agents of change and support efforts of Government at improving the general wellbeing of the people in their respective host communities.

Speaking through the State Commissioner for Youth Development, Mr. Gold Adedayo, Governor Oyebanji emphasized the importance of making hard work, discipline and service for national development their watchwords.

He assured that State Government would continue to accord recognition for outstanding achievements by Corps members, adding that whatever sacrifices they make during their stay in the State would be acknowledged and properly rewarded.

Oyebanji noted that the State had consistently rewarded outstanding Corps members with the prestigious State Honours Award and therefore solicited the unflinching steadfastness of the new set in rendering outstanding service during the scheme.

He charged them to brace up and rise to overcome the challenges ahead with the mindset of sacrifice, dedication, persistence and humility, saying that they must adapt to the new environments and build a solid foundation for a year of impactful Service.

Oyebanji said that his administration recognized that Youths have great potentials to significantly influence their communities positively within a very short period which in turns will place the nation back on the track of greatness.

Earlier in his address, the Ekiti State Coordinator, Alhaji Riko Abdullahi Shaibu warned of zero tolerance of the NYSC for cultism and acts capable of threatening the peaceful co-existence of the orientation camp.

He said that adequate measures had been put in place to checkmate any form of inimical acts that may truncate the smooth running of the camp.
