Nursing Mothers Tasks On Need For Exclusive Breast-Feeding

The wife of the Executive Chairman of Ibadan Northwest Local Government,  Alhaja Alirat Folashade Adepoju  has welcomed the babies  of the year with cash gifts and valuable items, with a charge  to mothers to practice exclusive breastfeeding on their babies.

She disclosed this at Ayeye Primary health care center, Ayeye and Oniyanrin Primary Health care centre, Inalende where she visited the babies of the year and presented them with  gift items and cash donations.

According  to the Chairperson,  babies are free gift from God hence, adequate  attention and necessary  provisions must be made  for their growth  and uplift. She maintained  that breast  milk contains natural  nutrients  needed for the wellbeing and growth  of babies, hence the need to practice  the six months  exclusive  breastfeeding  as recommended  by medical  practitioners.

She enjoined mothers to take the welfare  of their children  as their  priorities regardless of any odds.

While congratulating the mothers of the new born babies, Mrs Adepoju implored them to lay a good foundation for their children and follow all   post natal instructions in taking care of their babies, among  which are exclusive  breastfeeding for six months, routine immunization  for  babies and regular intake of balance diet by the nursing mothers. All these according  to the chairperson will give the babies and mothers enough immunity against  any infections.

In the meantime, the Chairperson has  appreciated  His Excellency  Engr Seyi Makinde and his amiable  wife  Mrs Olufunke  Makinde  for their initiatives in organizing  programs  that would  improve the health  of mothers and children  particularly towards  reducing  maternal and child deaths from preventable causes. She further  appreciated  her husband, the Executive Chairman of Ibadan Northwest Local Government,  Alh AbdulRahman Olanrewaju Adepoju  for his unflinching  supports  in making her programs  for women in the council a reality.

The  first baby of the year who was a boy was  delivered  on January 1,2025 at Ayeye primary Health care center at exactly 12.01am and weighed 2.8kg while  the second  baby who was also a boy was delivered  on January 2, 2025 at Oniyanrin Primary  Health  care centre, inalende at 2:22am with a body weight of 3.7kg .

The two babies were given gift items and cash donations, while other babies in the wards at Oniyanrin Primary Health centre were given cash gifts by the Chairperson, Mrs Alirat  Adepoju.

The  mothers  of the  new year babies Mrs Mariam Lamidi  and Mrs Fathia  Damilare  appreciated  the chairperson respectively  for putting  smiles  on their faces in the new year. They prayed to God to replenish  her pocket.

In their  separate  remarks,the matron of Oniyanrin  Primary Health care centre  Mrs Abimbola Justina and her counterpart from  Ayeye Primary Health centre, Mrs Abdulmojeed appreciated  the kind gestures  of the chairperson towards the family of the new born babies.They urged the mothers to follow all post natal instructions given to them for the benefits  of the babies  and themselves.

Alhaja Adepoju  prays to God to grant mothers  and babies  good health and the fathers  should continue  to have the means to support  their families.

On the Chairperson’s entourage  were the Super for Women  Affairs,Mrs Grace Ifeoma,  women representatives  across the council wards and  a Community  Inspector  Officer Mrs Olosunde.
