As the 1446 Ramadan commences, the Executive Chairman of Ibadan Northwest Local Government, Alhaji Rahman Adepoju  has enjoined  Muslim ummahs to pray fervently  for the economic  growth  of the country.

The words of admonition were contained  in his Ramadan  message  to all Muslim faithful  in Ibadan North West, Oyo state and the country as a whole.

According to the Chairman, Ramadan is a month of immense significance in the Islamic faith. “It is a time when Muslims worldwide observe fasting from dawn to dusk, refraining not only from food and drink but also from negative thoughts, actions, and behaviours. It is a period of heightened spirituality, where the faithfuls seek to draw closer to Allah through acts of worship, charity, and compassion.

He reiterated that the month of Ramadan reminds us of the importance of empathy, humility, and gratitude, as we experience the pains of hunger and thirst, thereby fostering a deeper understanding of the struggles faced by the less fortunate.

The council Boss enjoined all Muslim ummahs to use the period  to pray fervently  for the economic growth  of the country. He maintained that if the country is economically stable, the citizens can enjoy all the basic necessities  of life as expected. He said  “Ramadan  is a sacred month in the Muslim calendar where all prayers and requests  are granted  by Almighty Allah,  hence the need to use the period to pray  to Almighty  Allah  to grant our    leaders the wisdom to lead the country  to an enviable  one.

Alhaji Adepoju added that beyond the physical act of fasting, Ramadan is a time for spiritual renewal and personal growth. It is an opportunity to strengthen one’s relationship with Almighty Allah, seek  forgiveness for our shortcomings, and strive to become better individuals.

The Holy Qur’an, which was revealed during this blessed month, serves as a guide for righteous living and a source of solace and inspiration. I implored all Muslims to dedicate time to the recitation  of the Qur’an, as well as to engage in acts of charity (Zakat and Sadaqah) and community service – by extending a helping hand to those in need.

The Executive Chairman prayed that  the Holy month brings us closer to Allah, strengthen our faith, and fill our hearts with love, compassion, and kindness.

As  Ramadan  period  coincides with the beginning  of another month of the year, the Chairman wishes  everyone  a rewarding  Ramadan  period and a marvelous new month.
