The Chairman of Ibadan Northwest Local Government, Alh AbdulRahman Olanrewaju Adepoju has reiterated that the present administration will not condole any immoral act from the vigilante Patrol Team hence the need for them to work in accordance with the rules and regulations guiding the formation of the Team.
The Chairman made the statement during his interactive meeting with the Oyo State Vigilante Patrol Team (Ibadan Northwest Local Government Chapter) held at the Council Secretariat Onireke, Ibadan.
According to the Chairman, the local government appreciated the unflinching supports of the team in bringing sanity to the Council Areas through their voluntary services. He stressed that as a way of securing the lives and properties of residents of the council Area, his administration formed the ‘Scorpion Policing sector’ and the vigilante team has been playing vital roles in ensuring that the mission and vision for the formation of the security network are achieved. However, the Council Boss maintained that the vigilante patrol Team was not constituted to witch-hunt the citizenry but to curb criminal activities in the society.
Alh Adepoju warned that any vigilante member found wanton in the course of his/her service will be dealt with in accordance with the law.
On the demands of the Patrol Team, the Executive Chairman assured that their requests will be looked into and urgent actions will be taken to ensure that they have a conducive working environment.
Earlier in her welcome remarks, the Head of the Local Government Administration Mrs Rachael Olabode maintained that the main purpose of the meeting was for the Council Boss to meet the vigilante Patrol Team one on one and get their profiles for official recognition. She urged them not to relent in carrying their schedules as pledged during their inauguration.
In his own remarks, the Cordinator IBNWLG Policing Sector, Alh. Afolabi R.A saluted the courage of the vigilante Team for their voluntary service to the Local Government with the assurance that all the newly inaugurated vigilante Team in the local government will be properly screened for effective productivity.
Speaking on behalf of the Patrol Team,the Commandant , Com.Akerele Abdulganiyul appreciated the Executive Chairman and his working cabinet for creating an avenue to have an interactive session with them. He assured the chairman that he and his Team will not derail from being faithful, loyal and honest in their call to duties as pledged during their inauguration. He maintained that all hands will be on deck to ensure that criminal activities are curbed if not eradicated within the local government.
Present at the interactive meeting with the Council Boss were the Local Government Secretary Mrs Sarah Shobowale, Super for works, Alh Ahmed Akindipo, policing sector cordinator, Alh Afolabi R.A and the Head of the Local Government Administration Mrs Rachael Olabode.
Others included the Director of Administration Mrs Olugbuyiro, Director of Finance and Supplies Mrs Dasola Jimoh, Director of Education and social services Mrs Titilola Adeniran, Deputy Director of Education Mr.Bamidele, Admin officer and officers from Education and Social Services Department.
