The new chairman of the Oyo Council of NUJ, Comrade Akeem Abas was one of the media top-shots that witnessed the burial of Elder Oluwole Isaac Igbaroola, Alaba Igbaroola’s husband last Thursday.
Alaba, who is presently the chairperson of Photojournalists Association of Nigeria (PJAN) and ex-officio member of Lagos NUJ earlier lost her heartthrob after he was involved in an auto mishap in Ibadan, the capital city of Oyo State.
The burial programme which was attended by NUJ leaders from Lagos State was held at the deceased’s residence located at Abayomi Street, Yidi Arola Road, Apete, Ibadan.
While thanking family and friends who joined her at the event, Mrs Alaba said “I am grateful to all. I pray that God will continue to be with all of us that are still alive. I am sincerely appreciative of those who supported me before my husband’s departure. I pray for all our colleagues from Lagos, Abuja, Ibadan and elsewhere for supporting me. I also appreciate all our immediate family members.”
The burial programme was also attended by Correspondents’ Chapel Members, Mr Dare Aleshinloye, Oyo Governor’s SA on Photography, Ambassador Olayinka Agboola, the ParrotXtra Publisher, prominent members of Igbaroola family from Ilesha and beyond.
Alaba Igbaroola, who is ParrotXtra Media Network’s Lagos State Editor lost her husband on January 9th, 2026.

Elder Oluwole Igbaroola a.k.a. Wolex was born into the popular Bisileko Igbaroola family of Ilesha on April 4th, 1958. He attended Holy Trinity Primary School and later proceeded to the Ijebu Jesa Grammar School in IjebuJesa. Afterwards, he attended the prestigious The Polytechnic, Ibadan where he studied Marketing and Advertising.
He is survived by wife, children, brothers and sister.
