The Deputy Chief Whip of the Oyo State House of Assembly and lawmaker representing Ibadan South-West State Constituency I, Hon. Yusuf Adebisi, has paid an unscheduled inspection visit to the construction site of the first public secondary school in the constituency.
Hon. Adebisi facilitated the construction of the school, which comprises six blocks, an administrative block, staff rooms, and other facilities.
The project was approved by Governor Seyi Makinde through the intervention of the Oyo State Better Education Service Delivery for All, BESDA. It is expected to fast-track access to quality secondary education in Ibadan South-West Constituency I.
According to the lawmaker, the project will improve access to higher and quality education while strengthening educational infrastructure in the constituency.
During the inspection, Hon. Adebisi expressed satisfaction with the pace of work and commended Governor Makinde for prioritizing education and addressing the long-standing educational needs of residents.
He described the classroom project as a major milestone in expanding educational opportunities for children in the constituency.
“This project is more than a block of classrooms; it is a foundation for the future of our children. For years, our people have been yearning for a standard secondary school within this constituency, and today that dream is becoming a reality through the visionary leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde,” Adebisi said.
He revealed that all necessary arrangements have been put in place to ensure that the first set of students resumes academic activities when the new session opens in September 2026.
“The governor has graciously approved the establishment of this secondary school, and we are hopeful that the first batch of students will commence learning in the next academic session. This is a landmark achievement for our constituency and another testament to the people-oriented policies of this administration,” he added.
The lawmaker’s visit coincided with a gathering of hundreds of community stakeholders, political leaders, youth representatives, market leaders, and residents who were meeting within the constituency.
Addressing the stakeholders, Adebisi assured them that more developmental projects would reach all parts of Ibadan South-West Constituency I. He emphasized that the current administration has consistently delivered tangible projects and interventions that have improved the lives of the people.
“Our constituency deserves the very best, and we remain committed to attracting projects that will improve education, security, healthcare, youth empowerment, and infrastructure. The era of empty promises is over. Today, our people can see and feel the impact of government through visible projects across our communities,” he stated.
Adebisi also urged political leaders and residents to remain united and continue supporting developmental initiatives aimed at advancing the constituency.
“This is the time for unity, not division. Development thrives where there is cooperation. I appeal to all politicians, community leaders, and stakeholders to place the interest of our people above personal ambitions. Together, we can build a constituency that future generations will be proud of,” he said.
He further assured constituents that his office would continue to engage relevant government agencies and development partners to attract more projects capable of improving the socio-economic status of the constituency.
Residents and stakeholders who witnessed the inspection expressed appreciation to Governor Seyi Makinde and Hon. Yusuf Adebisi for bringing critical educational infrastructure to the area. They described the project as a transformative development that will benefit generations of students and families.
