Comrade Olawale Olajumoke, President of AGSOBA Club 0006, has emerged as one of the leading personalities after spearheading the successful renovation of a block of three classrooms, one of the landmark legacy projects delivered to Abeokuta Grammar School during the anniversary.
The project, commissioned as part of activities marking the school’s 118th anniversary, was undertaken by AGSOBA Club 0006 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the members’ graduation from the institution, reinforcing the Abeokuta Grammar School Old Boys Association’s enduring tradition of giving back to its alma mater.
The anniversary celebrations climaxed on Sunday with a thanksgiving service at the Cathedral of St. Paul, Ake, Abeokuta.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Olajumoke described the project as a tribute to generations of AGSOBA members whose culture of service and selflessness had inspired younger alumni to sustain the development of the school.
He said the renovated classroom block represented the most symbolic intervention by Club 0006 since its graduation, adding to previous projects executed by the set, including the provision of floodlights and a power-generating set.
According to him, Abeokuta Grammar School has, for over a century, remained faithful to its founding philosophy of building character alongside academic excellence, a legacy that continues to distinguish its products in different professions.
Olajumoke welcomed the President-General of AGSOBA Global, Chief (Dr.) Obafemi Olalekan Kotoye, members of the National Executive Council, distinguished old boys, and other guests to the commissioning ceremony.
Commissioning the project, Kotoye praised Olajumoke and members of AGSOBA Club 0006 for conceiving and delivering what he described as a transformative intervention that would improve teaching and learning in the school.
He commended the vision, planning, and commitment that culminated in the successful execution of the project, saying it reflected the enduring AGSOBA culture of service, sacrifice, and loyalty to the institution.
Kotoye also urged members of the set to remain united and continue strengthening their lifelong bond.
“In many years to come, only your mates will understand your jokes,” he remarked, drawing laughter from the gathering.
In his response, Olajumoke dedicated the success of the project to members of AGSOBA Club 0006, acknowledging their financial support, sacrifices, and shared commitment to making the initiative a reality.
He said the classroom renovation was a testament to what could be achieved through collective leadership and unity of purpose while reaffirming the set’s resolve to continue supporting the development of Abeokuta Grammar School.
