A socio-political movement in Osun State, the Imole Women Network has thrown its weight behind the re-election bid of Osun State Governor Senator Ademola Adeleke ahead of Saturday’s governorship election, urging residents across the state to turn out en masse and vote for the Accord Party candidate.
According to a statement released by the President of the group, Yeyelua Olanike Titilawo Babawande, the network declared its support for Adeleke’s second-term aspiration, describing him as a leader whose administration has made meaningful contributions to the development of Osun State.
Babawande said the endorsement came following the action of the government in the last four years in the state by demonstrating commitment to infrastructure development, workers’ welfare, education, healthcare and people-oriented governance.
She urged eligible voters in all parts of the state not to stay away from the polls, stressing that active participation in the electoral process remains crucial to the sustenance of democracy and good governance.
The National Women Leader of Accord Party/Chairperson of Imole Women Network, Princess Adekemi Awogbade, also encouraged residents to conduct themselves peacefully before, during, and after the election while exercising their civic responsibility.
According to her, the group believes that Adeleke deserves another term to consolidate on the achievements recorded by his administration and to complete ongoing developmental projects across the state.
The endorsement comes as political activities intensify ahead of the governorship election, with support groups and stakeholders mobilising voters in support of their preferred candidates.
Observers note that endorsements from influential groups such as women and community-based organisations could play a significant role in shaping voter participation and electoral outcomes in the state.
The Imole Women Network reaffirmed its commitment to mobilising women and other residents to participate actively in Saturday’s election and support Governor Adeleke’s re-election bid.
