Former UFC middleweight champion, Israel Adesanya will make his return to the Octagon on March 28, headlining the UFC Seattle card against 15th-ranked contender, Joe Pyfer.
The bout marks a crucial moment for “The Last Stylebender,” who is currently on a three-fight losing streak, while his opponent enters on a three-match winning run.
Adesanya has shifted his focus away from reclaiming the UFC middleweight belt, instead choosing to enjoy his fights and take risks while entertaining fans.
For Pyfer, who holds a 12-2 professional record, this represents one of the biggest opportunities of his career. The American has admitted that other fighters were more deserving of the bout.
“I was offered a fight against Paulo Costa initially, but I welcomed the chance to fight Adesanya. I recognise him as a legendary opponent,” Pyfer said.
The matchup promises to be a striking-heavy contest, with both fighters known for their stand-up game rather than wrestling.
The UFC Seattle card, which also features Alexa Grasso versus Maycee Barber, is yet to be fully finalised.
