The Oyo State Government has dismissed circulating reports of a kidnapping at the College of Nursing campus in Kishi, describing them as false and misleading.
The Commissioner for Education, Science, and Technology, Olusegun Olayiwola, explained that the panic stemmed from an unfounded alarm raised by some individuals, which caused fear among students, staff, and residents.
He assured parents and the public that no kidnapping occurred and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring the safety of all educational institutions in the state.
Olayiwola warned that spreading false information online constitutes a cybercrime and urged those responsible to desist immediately.
In a similar statement, the Provost of the College of Nursing, Eleyele Ibadan, Dr. Gbonjubola Owolabi, confirmed that no incident had taken place, noting that internal verification with security personnel had cleared the campus of any threat.
