The Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to expanding access to quality, affordable healthcare in Osun State as he officially enrolled traditional rulers and their queens in the state’s Health Insurance Scheme (OHIS).
The enrolment, marked by the presentation of Osun Insurance Health Scheme (OSHIS) cards to the monarchs’ families, took place alongside Adeleke’s commissioning of the Agency’s Multipurpose Hall.
In his address, Adeleke described the commissioning of the new facility as another milestone in his administration’s efforts to strengthen public institutions and improve service delivery across the state.
On OSHIA Hall
“I am elated to commission the newly completed OSHIA Multipurpose Hall, a modern facility built to enhance the operations of the Osun Health Insurance Agency and provide improved service delivery to the people of Osun State. The landmark event underscores our administration’s unwavering commitment to expanding access to quality and affordable healthcare,” Adeleke said.
“The free enrollment initiative is another bold step by our administration to ensure that traditional rulers and their queens enjoy access to quality healthcare services without financial hardship. We remain committed to expanded access to healthcare for all residents, in line with our people-centred health policy,” he said.
Earlier, the Executive Secretary of the Agency, Dr Rasaq Akintunde Akindele, said that the enrolment of traditional rulers was designed to deepen grassroots acceptance of the health insurance scheme by leveraging the influence of monarchs across communities.
“Our revered Royal Fathers are custodians of our culture and trusted voices within their communities. By enrolling them on the scheme, we are empowering them to serve as ambassadors for social health insurance. Their participation will inspire confidence, encourage voluntary enrolment and accelerate our collective aspiration to achieve universal health coverage for every resident of Osun State,” Akindele said.
