The Member representing Ibadan South-West Constituency II in the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Oluwafemi Oluwafowokanmi, has expressed appreciation to Governor Seyi Makinde over the confirmation of the Acting Rector of The Polytechnic, Ibadan, and other principal officers of the institution.
In a statement on Wednesday, Hon. Oluwafowokanmi described the confirmation as a landmark decision that will bring stability, continuity, and renewed momentum to the institution.
The Chairman of the House Committee on Tertiary Institutions in the state said the 10th Oyo State House of Assembly had consistently advocated for the confirmation, noting that a substantive management team was critical for the growth and development of the Polytechnic.
”I must commend His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde, for listening to the yearnings of stakeholders and for taking this bold step to confirm qualified and tested individuals to lead our premier Polytechnic,” Hon. Oluwafowokanmi said.
”As members of the House, we have been at the forefront of advocating for this confirmation because we believe that the institution deserves stable leadership to drive academic excellence, infrastructural development, and staff welfare.”
The lawmaker congratulated the new substantive Rector and other principal officers, and urged them to justify the confidence reposed in them by working with staff, students, and stakeholders to reposition the Polytechnic.
“I have no doubt that with this confirmation, the Polytechnic, Ibadan, is set for greater achievements. We in the House will continue to support policies that strengthen our tertiary institutions and secure the future of our youths,” he added.
Hon. Oluwafowokanmi reaffirmed his commitment to partnering with the Executive to advance quality education in Oyo State.
It will be recalled that Governor Seyi Makinde on Tuesday approved the appointment of Dr. Lasisi Taiwo Abideen as the substantive Rector of The Polytechnic, Ibadan.
The approval was conveyed through a letter from the Oyo State Government.
The Governor also confirmed Dr. Olajide Taiwo Sherifat as the Registrar, Mr. Adegbola Abiodun Kolawole as the Bursar, and Mr. Osunrinade Olukunle Akinbola as the Librarian of the institution.
