Oluyole Progressive Union UK (OPU-UK) has once again taken the celebration of the 82nd birthday and first anniversary on the throne of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Senator Rashidi Ladoja, to the doorsteps of children in need, donating food items to Jesus Kids Home for Disabled, Iwo Road, Ibadan.
The latest gesture, led by the President of OPU-UK, Alhaji Akeem Akinborode, was carried out in the spirit of the Olubadan’s directive that well-wishers should shun elaborate celebrations for his birthday and instead channel their goodwill towards the less privileged and vulnerable members of society.
Rather than organising another lavish birthday ceremony, the union chose to celebrate the revered monarch by putting essential food items within the reach of children and residents of the home, giving a compassionate meaning to the occasion.
The gesture is also significant because it comes only months after OPU-UK demonstrated a similar commitment to the welfare of children at the same institution.
On May 29, 2026, the union donated essential items valued at ₦5 million to Jesus Kids Orphanage Home during a visit led by Akinborode.
