The Joint Negotiating Council (JNC) leading the trade union bodies’ negotiations team on behalf of all the teeming workers in the employment of the Ekiti State Government have become resolute to press home their demand for the payment of their financial benefits for the period of three years (2015, 2016 and 2017).

This includes promotional allowances owed them by the Ekiti State Government.

The group of Ekiti Workers under the aegis of the State Public Service Negotiating Council expressed their displeasure through a statement signed by both the State Chairman, Comrade Fatomiluyi Kayode and State Secretary, Comrade Gbenga Olowoyo on behalf of the Union in Ekiti State.

They descended heavily on the State Government for not showing concerns for their welfare thereby leading to frustration of the workers as a result of foot dragging.

The JNC expressed sadness over the development which was caused by the immediate past administration of Dr. Ayodele Fayose who promoted workers without financial benefits.

They described the action of the Fayose-led administration as one without conscience which failed to give the workers benefits accruable to their promotion as at when due.

The Ekiti JNC used the opportunity to appeal to the Dr. John Kayode Fayemi-led government in the State to come to the rescue of the affected workers being denied their promotional entitlements since government is a continuum. They collectively urged Fayemi to use his large heart to address the burning issue to enable those affected enjoy their labour.

“As a matter of fact, the entire Public Servants in Ekiti are conscious of the readiness of the present administration under Dr. John Kayode Fayemi to walk the talk. Mr. Governor as a matter of necessity and commitment should fulfill his previous promises by clearing all the outstanding salaries within one year of his second term in office.

“The JNC promised on behalf of all workers in the Public Service of Ekiti State to remain committed to all cardinal programmes of the present Administration in the State. To achieve this, JNC has proposed quarterly interface between Government and Labour Union Leaders in the Public Service – a platform that will fast track resolutions of some outstanding burning issues affecting workers generally”.

The Union leaders equally appealed to the workers to exercise patience to allow the leadership of the JNC in the State work out robust negotiation in line with best labour practices.
