Igala indigenes residing in Ekiti State have signified their readiness to participate actively in Governor Kayode Fayemi’s one year in office celebration, coming up on October 16th this year.
They gave the assurance during a familiarization visit to the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Governor on Mobilization, Prince Olatunji Ogunlola, in his office in Ado-Ekiti.
While receiving them in his office, the SSA explained that the State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, places high premium on the welfare of non-indigenes in the state, urging them to reciprocate the kind gesture through their cooperation and support of the Governor in moving the state forward.
Prince Ogunlola advised them to form cooperative societies so that they can benefit from the micro-credit loans that would commence soon in the state.
The SSA, who explained that he had met with some non-indigene groups such as Hausa, Igbo, Ebira, Urobo among others, said non-indigenes in the state would be treated equally by the State Government.
He however implored them to exercise patience with the state Government on the issue of provision of bus for them, stressing that due to paucity of funds, majority of the State Commissioners and political appointees are still using their personal vehicles.
Responding, the General Chairman of Igala community, Ekiti State Chapter, Mr. John Okoriko, explained that Igala Communities in the state are loyal, committed and faithful to the administration of Governor Kayode Fayemi.
He also commended the Governor for his peaceful and purposeful administration in the state.
