Quadri Aruna returned to winning ways for TTC RhönSprudel Fulda-Maberzell in the Table Tennis Bundesliga (TTBL) as the Nigerian inspired his team to third spot on the league table.
The match against unbeaten TTF Ochsenhausen lasted for three hours and it was Aruna who was the star player for the home team with crucial wins against Maciej Kubik and Simon Gauzy to give Fulda a 3-2 win.
Victory for Fulda ended the winning streak of the visitors TTF Liebherr Ochsenhausen as Aruna started the tie for the home team with a 3-1 win over Kubik.
Gauzy had a better edge over Aruna’s teammate – Ruwen Filus with the Frenchman winning 3-1 to level the match for the visitors.
American Kanak Jha increased the lead for the visitors after a 3-1 win over Alexandre Cassin.
As the number one player for Fulda, Aruna returned to the table against Frenchman number one- Gauzy, and for the first time in his career, the Nigerian recorded a convincing 3-1 to put the tie at 2-2 and restored the hope of the home team.
The partnership of Cassin and Fan Bo Meng won the encounter for Fulda as the pair recorded their fourth win in their five matches with a 3-1 win over the pair of Samuel Kulczycki and Kubik to give put Fulda at third spot on the league table.
Also Friday, Aruna again showed class when he led Fulda to another 3-0 win over TTC Zugbrücke Grenzau in the round of the 16 of the German Cup.
