Ahead of the 2023 general elections, the Oyo State African Democratic Congress (ADC) Deputy Governorship candidate, Evangelist Emmanuel Oyewole has decamped to the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.
Evangelist Oyewole announced his decamped to PDP at a press conference held at the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) Press Centre, Iyaganku on Friday.
According to him, he said that he and his supporters were poised to join the state Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde in the ruling PDP because he is working in line with ADC agenda which is to deliver a good governance.
“My name is Evangelist Emmanuel Oyetayo Oyewole. I am the running mate to the governorship candidate of the ADC in Oyo State, Dr. Ganiyu Dele Ajadi for the 2023 governorship election. But we are here today for what I will describe as a landmark event, a turning point in the race for the 2023 governorship election.
“I, Emmanuel Oyetayo Oyewole, the Deputy Governorship Candidate of the ADC in Oyo State, hereby denounce my membership of the ADC and pledge my total allegiance to the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
“I and my followers, spread across the state, have considered this decision and I can say with all sense of responsibility that I have taken this decision in the interest of Oyo State.
“Truth be told, going by the good governance and masterful administration of Oyo State under the incumbent executive governor of Oyo State, His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde, the 2023 governorship election in the state should have only one clear contender and that is the incumbent governor, because as they say, one good term deserves another.
“Under Governor Makinde, Oyo State is gradually transforming into the state of our collective dreams; the Pacesetter State, where different success stories in human capacity development, infrastructure development, economic expansion, improved education, security of lives and properties and health delivery gladden the hearts.
“As loyal and patriotic indigenes of Oyo State, I and the teeming members of the ADC who had earlier signed to my aspiration as ADC Deputy Governorship candidate, we want these positive developments to continue and we believe that only Governor Makinde can make this possible,” Evangelist Oyewole said.
Responding to the promises made by Governor Seyi Makinde to the ADC in 2019, The Oke-Ogun, Igboho in Oorelope Local Government area of Oyo State born politician, explained that the governor has fulfill all the promises made by given the party (ADC) commissioner slots, Special Advisers, Special Assistants, local government chairmen and several other positions.
