Popular Nollywood actress, Funke Akindele has disclosed the reasons behind her choice to embrace acting over pursuing a career in law, despite obtaining a degree in the field from the University of Lagos (UNILAG).
The box office queen explained that her initial pursuit of law was driven by a commitment to fulfill her late father’s aspirations, as he had always envisioned her becoming a lawyer.
Acknowledging her genuine passions for acting, singing, and dancing, the mother of two confessed that her father’s desire for her legal career influenced her decision to study law, with the intention of honouring his wishes before ultimately returning to the realm of entertainment.
Akindele, however, expressed that she never regretted the decision, emphasising that her legal background significantly influenced her work as an actress.
She specifically mentioned her fondness for criminal law and the excitement she derives from incorporating legal elements into her performances.
Akindele pointed out the seamless integration of her legal knowledge into her acting, citing that the two disciplines complement each other.
