Oyo House of Assembly Passes Veterinary Bill 2017 Into Law

The Oyo State House of Assembly, Thursday, passed the Veterinary Bill 2017 Into Law after considering a report presented by the Chairman House Committee on Agriculture and Natural Resources, Hon. Safiu Olalere.

The Bill was passed after being read for the third time. The house thereafter constituted itself into committees to consider the bill clause by clause before it was passed.

The said Bill was meant to regulate the establishment of operations of private veterinary premises and veterinary establishment (regulatory) bill 2017 in compliance with rules and regulations guiding the ethics set up by the veterinary council of Nigeria.

The house also deliberated upon two motions brought to the floor of the house. The first motion was moved by Hon John Olaleru representing Kajola state constituency with the title: the need to sustain the restructuring transformation and restoration agenda of the education sector of the state.

After much deliberations and contributions by the honourable members, the House resolved by calling on all relevant stakeholders in the education sector including government functionaries, teachers, parents and school administrators to ensure that they play their roles in improving education in the state.

On the second motion which was moved by Hon Fatai Adeshina representing Ibadan South East Constituency I with the title: Need for urgent government attention on dilapidated and abandoned buildings in Oyo State which have become hide outs for criminals and constitute security threats” within Oyo State, the House after deliberations, called on the Commissioner and Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Environment and Water Resources, the Director-General Bureau of Physical Planning and Development Control and the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security Matter to appear before the House on the 8th of August, 2017 with a view to briefing the house on their programme and action plan on old abandoned and dilapidated buildings in the State.

The house has adjourned its sitting till Tuesday 1st August, 2017.
