In order to announce their readiness preparatory to the 2019 general elections and to commemorate St Valentine’s Day celebration, the Youth wing of Oyo State People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has concluded plans to host a mega summit in Ibadan on Thursday 15th February where the big wigs in the party will get the opportunity to fraternize with the youths.
The event which is scheduled to hold at Nest Spa & Suites, Agodi GRA, Ibadan according to the Oyo State PDP Youth leader, Asiwaju Adekola Adeoye will be declare open by the National Youth Leader of the party, Rt. Hon. S.K.E Udey-Okoye, while the leader of the party in the state, Senator Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja will be the special guest of honour.
The state party Chairman, Alhaji Omokunmi Mustapha is expected to be the Father of the day while other party heavy weights, which include Sen. Olufemi Lanlehin, Sen. Ayoade Adeseun, Barr. Sarafadeen Alli, Eng Seyi Makinde, Asiwaju Yemi Aderigbigbe, Dr Saka Balogun, Dr Muraina Abimbola, Barr Bayo Lawal, Sen. Hosea Agboola, Professor Taoheed Adedoja will also be in attendance.
While addressing newsmen ahead of the event, Adeoye, the State’s youth leader and the convener of the summit said, “I made wide consultations with the leaders of our great party before resolving to organize this unprecedented summit that we believe will shake Ibadan and will also serve as a forum to devise strategies ahead of the coming general elections”.
Part of the activities lined up for the day is lectures where four eminent Nigerians will deliver papers on different topics bothering on the state of the nation.
Oloye Jumoke Akinjinde, former Minister of State, FCT will talk on ‘Involvement of Youths in Nigerian Politics with 2019 in Focus’ while Senator Gbenga Babalola who once represented Oyo North Senatorial District in the last National Assembly will deliver a lecture on topic: ‘Preparing our Youths for Leadership Positions’. Barrister Jide Olanipekun, former NBA Sectertary, Oyo Branch will speak to the youths on a topic: ‘Unemployment of Youths in Nigeria: The Way Out’, as Hon. Nureni Adisa is also expected to deliver a paper on the topic: ‘The Role of the Youths in National Development’.
“I enjoin all the PDP youths and other Nigerians to join the party in waging war against the wolves that pretend to be doves. It is on record that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) deceived Nigerians during the last elections. It is therefore high time we defended our democracy by ensuring that the electorates vote massively for the PDP come 2019”, Adeoye noted.
