The Ogun State House of Assembly has called on the State Ministry of Works and Infrastructure to help intervene by liaising with the Federal Ministry of Works, Power and Housing to find a lasting solution to the deplorable state of the Owode-Iyana Ilogbo-Abule -Oke portion of old the Lagos- Abeokuta Federal road.

Speaker of the Assembly, Rt. Hon. Suraju Ishola Adekunbi, who made the call while responding to the submission of his Deputy, and a member representing Ifo I State Constituency, Olakunle Oluomo, noted that both governments had put palliative measures on the road in the past but because of the fact that the portion of the road was below the sea level the problem persisted.

Adekunbi, while commending the State government’s efforts in  promoting standard in all its infrastructural projects, canvassed for an immediate but permanent solution on the road to ease human and vehicular movements.

Earlier in his presentation, Oluomo, lauded the State Government for its ingenuity in constructing durable roads and rehabilitation where necessary across the State, appealing for the timely repair of the road to enhance the socio-economic status of the State.

Also speaking under Personal explanation, a member representing Ijebu East State Constituency, Hon. Oyenuga Olufowobi sought for the redeployment of more State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) officers to the Ijebu Mushin market to check the excesses of commercial motorcycle riders and traders displaying wares by the road side, which according to him often disrupted free flow of traffic along the market road.

Meanwhile, the State House of Assembly has set up two ad hoc Committees to look into the petitions submitted before it by concerned members of the society.

The Speaker, who announced the members of the Committee said the formation became imperative in order to look into the issues raised by the petitioners, saying the Committees would look into the petitions by Cassava Growers Association and that which was submitted against Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC).

According to him, the Committee to handle issues relating to Cassava growers Association would be headed by Hon. Victor Fasanya and would have Honourables Adebowale Ojuri,  Yetunde Sogbein-Adekanbi,  Olufowobi Oyenuga and Rasaq Oduntan as members,  while the second Committee that would look into the petition against the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company  (IBEDC) had the Minority Leader,  Olawale Alausa as Chairman with Honourables Idowu Olowofuja, Akinpelu Aina, Adebiyi Adeleye and Julianah Akintayo as members.
