One of the prominent sons of Lagun and Founder of Hassan Olawale Giwa Foundation has commended the Otun Ola of Lagun-in-Council and kingmakers of Lagun Community in Lagelu Local Government Area of Oyo State over the confirmation of the candidacy of Chief Nojeem Lekan Bello as the new Otun Ola of Lagun.

Arc. Giwa, an Abuja based businessman, while reacting to the official presentation of the designated monarch to the people of the community, commended the kingmakers for abiding by the tradition and culture of the community.

He maintained that culture and tradition of Lagun community allows the rotation of the Otun Ola of Lagun chieftaincy position between two ruling lines of Otun and Balogun.

The Otun Olubadan of Ibadan land, High Chief Lekan Balogun had officially presented the designated monarch, Chief Lekan Bello to the people on Tuesday, 13th November, 2019 to put to rest various agitations surrounding the enthronement of the new monarch for the community.

Arc. Giwa expressed that the decision taken by the kingmakers will go a long way in the history of the community.

According to him, “the decision of the kingmakers to follow the path of culture and tradition would go down in the history of the community. It is a landmark and good precedent, it is a pride to me and everybody that believes in the principles of justice, equity and fair play.”

The Founder of Hassan Giwa Foundation also saluted the courage and maturity displayed by the people of the community during the ‘trying period’. He disclosed that their decision to rally round the Council by giving them necessary support contributed to the success recorded in the long run.

Arc. Hassan Giwa, therefore, called on all parties concerned in the chieftaincy struggle to close ranks and support the new Otun Ola of Lagun in the interest of the people and to move the community to a better position.
