Osun State’s Gov Adegboyega Oyetola has expressed joy to the organisers of the maiden Ijesa Grand Marathon, a 10km road race scheduled to be held on Saturday, April 3, 2021 in Ilesa.
The governor while hosting the main organizing committee of the race led by the sponsor and Chief organiser of the event, Tijani Remilekun Usman to his office on Thursday said the race is an indication of a new vista of development in the state.
He, however, promised to be on ground to flag off the race that will begin at the Ilesa stadium in Irojo and terminate in front of the new, ultra modern Palace of our highly esteemed Royal Highness, His Majesty Oba Adekunle Aromolaran, the Owa Obokun of Ijesaland.
Oba Aromolaran who had also hosted the organizer of the event at his palace also pledged his full support to the road race while thanking the sponsor Tijani Remilekun Usman the CEO of BELTIJ Ltd, for looking inward to organize a sporting event that will further engage the youths in Ijesa land.
The event according to the sponsor will not be limited to the thousands of Ijeshas and other national athletes who have registered to participate in the 10 kilo race but also to others in their thousands who are mostly youths.
“Yes we have made the event to be a festival of sorts, a festival of sports and music as we have engaged popular Fuji musician, Taiye Currency and hip-hop star, 9ice to perform after the race”, he added.
