The Ogun State Bureau of Statistics has honoured a retired Permanent Secretary in the State Ministry Of Urban and Physical Planning (MUPP), Mr. Emmanuel Ofor, with an award of recognition for his tremendous support to the Bureau and for being a strong proponent of the creation of the establishment.
Presenting the award to him in Abeokuta, the State’s Statistician-General, Mr. David Alao in the company of officers of the Bureau, said the awardee has made significant contributions to the Civil Service and Bureau in particular.
The Statistician-General said Ofor, who was a Director of Statistics before he was appointed to the post of a Permanent Secretary in the State Civil Service, was a founding father of the Bureau and had contributed to the growth witnessed in the establishment since its creation.
Alao added that Statisticians in the service were already reaping the benefits of the Bureau, noting that the officers have been enjoying professional development, thereby contributing more to the sustainable development of the State.
Responding, Ofor lauded the Bureau for the recognition bestowed on him, stressing that he remains grateful to God that the struggle for the establishment of the State Bureau of Statistics became a reality.
He commended the efforts of the Statistician-General at steering the affairs of the government establishment, charging the head of the Bureau, who is also the first Statistician-General in the State to be diligent.
