New Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Ibrahim Musa Gusau must be seething in anger over liabilities inherited from the Amaju Pinnick led board with words rife that the federation was yet to clear the outstanding wages of erstwhile Super Eagles German coach Gernot Rohr who was unceremoniously dismissed on the eve of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroun.
A miffed Rohr then took Nigeria to FIFA over the sack demanding compensation to the tune of over $1m which was not granted by the world soccer’s governing body who only ordered Nigeria to pay him a compensation of $377,879.46
In August, Rohr was quoted as saying that FIFA had partly paid him the money being owed by the NFF albeit from the development budget accruable to African federations.
But a decent close to the former Bayern Munich defender has told NationSport that the NFF still have to cough out about $140, 00 USD in order to clear the German’s outstanding wages.
With a conservative exchange rate of N435.1800 to one USD as at yesterday, the $ 140000 US Dollar is about N60,925,200.00
“It is shame that the last board of the NFF led by Amaju Pinnick failed to clear Rohr’s outstanding wages before they quit office,” a confidant of the German told NationSport last night.“ I know they are still owning him about $140,000 US Dollars and this is the sort of liabilities the new NFF board of Ibrahim Gusau has inherited.
“But if they refuse to pay, Rohr can still collect his balance through FIFA which is quite unfortunate because they (NFF) is just dragging the image of the country,” he added
But a source at the NFF told NationSport that governance is continuous hence the new Gusau’s NFF board would ensure that the moneys being owed the German would be cleared in due course.
