Suleimon, Makinde’s CPS To Endow Awards For Oyo Journalists On Behalf Of Boss

Pastor Suleimon Olanrewaju, the Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to the governor of Oyo State, Engineer ‘Seyi Makinde has disclosed his office’s plans to endow awards for journalists in the state to win in the name of his principal.

He made this disclosure on Wednesday while being hosted by the state’s Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) at the Press Center, Iyaganku, Ibadan, the capital city of the state.

PMParrot reports that Suleimon, who was being hosted alongside other journalists in his Media Department at the Governor’s Office also clarified “the awards can also form part of the annual Press Week being organized by Oyo NUJ. The leaders of the Union should decide how we will go about it.”

The Oyo Governor’s Aide also addressed the issue of Makinde’s relationship with media men in the state.

His words “Governor Makinde does not hate journalists. He is always eager to associate with us. You can see the number of people in our department. He wishes us the best at all times.”

Suleimon continued, “as for my personal relationship with you, I pledge to always be there for you all. I do not plan to block whatever is meant for you. If the governor releases anything to enhance and uplift members, you can be sure that it will get to you, intact.

“All I want is for you to cooperate with the administration of Engineer Makinde. In addition, do not shy to come to us to clarify stories before publishing. We can be reached anytime, any day.

“Apart from your cooperation, we also urge you to continue to pray for the success of the administration. If things go well with the governor and those working with him, greater achievements will be recorded by his government.”

In his own remark, the Chairman, Oyo NUJ, Chief Ademola Babalola thanked Governor Makinde for being a true friend of the state’s resident journalists. He was also full of praises for Pastor Suleimon who he described as a committed member of NUJ who used to facilitate sponsorship for the activities of the council even before he became a CPS.

Other members of the governor’s media team present at the event included Bose Sadiq, Moses Alao, Dare Alesinloye and others.
