The Proprietress of Ayobami Comprehensive High School, Ibadan, Mrs. Elizabeth Ayobami Popoola has urged the country’s examinational bodies including West Africa Examination Council, (WAEC) National Examinations Council (NECO) and the Joint Admissions Matriculation Board (JAMB) to checkmate examination fraud syndicates who undermine the integrity of the nation’s  examination bodies.

She further called for collaborative efforts among stakeholders in the education sector to address the menace confronting educational institutions in the country.

She said: “Most students are not ready to learn again because they know they will access the questions online before the commencement of the examination. The examination agencies should install applications to centrally track and monitor examination malpractice, and ensure that their external supervisors are properly trained to detect any form of malpractice.

She further urged the government at all levels to provide subventions to provide school operators in the country in order to ease the burden of private school operators in Nigeria.

Government’s Support Needed

The educationist continued, “We want the government to give us grants because we are helping them to improve the educational standards through our involvement since they cannot do it alone. We are helping them to ease their burden. They should also provide necessary facilities and teaching aids to public institutions because teaching without the necessary materials is not a complete exercise”.

Mrs. Popoola further revealed that the school has performed well in local and international examinations since inception adding that it has produced graduates who are doing well in various fields of endeavors.

She added, “Ayobami Nursery and primary school started in 1997; our school differs from others because our students are taught in a conducive environment with state of the art facilities. We train them to be honest, and we have trained and qualified teachers”.

The school proprietress urged parents to provide a good platform for learning to their children adding that education is the bedrock to a successful life while warning students not to jeopardize the chances of acquiring sound education while they are still young.

“I will advise parents to allow their children to acquire basic education, because somebody who cannot read or write cannot contest and win election in the country”
