Aiyedatiwa Mourns As Ondo’s Oldest Monarch Dies At 102

    The oldest monarch in Ondo state, the Owa of Idanre, His Royal Majesty, Oba Fredrick Adegunle Aroloye, Arubiefin IV has died.

    Oba Aroloye served for 48 years.

    He died at the age of 102.

    The late Oba Aroloye was the 26th Owa Idanreland and was crowned in September 1976 after the death of his father, Oba Aladegbule Aroloye Arubiefin III.

    High Chief Christopher Oluwole Akindolire, the Lisa of Idanre land confirmed the death of Oba Aroloye.

    Chief Akindolire said necessary traditional rites were being put in place at the palace.

    Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, in a statement by his chief press secretary, Ebenezer Adeniyan, described the death of Oba Aroloye as a loss to the Idanre community, Ondo state, and Yorubaland.

    The Ondo governor said the late Idanre monarch was one of the most respected monarchs in the country.

    He said: “Within the almost 50 years of his reign, Oba Aroloye promoted communal peace and stability while deploying his rich experience in the traditional leadership of Idanreland.

    “Our hearts are heavy as we mourn the passing of our beloved Oba Aroloye. His Majesty’s wisdom, leadership, and dedication to community development and peace in our State will be deeply missed.

    “We will continue to remember his selfless service, guidance, and unwavering commitment to the development of Idanre and Ondo state.”
