The the spokesperson for Oyo State Police Command, DSP Ayanlade Olushola Olayinka has been talking about the difference between the cases of ex-Power Minister, Adebayo Adelabu’s sister who was abducted alongside her twins and the abduction of schools children with their teachers at Oriire LGA of Oyo State.

Ayanlade, who was appointed as the Command’s spokesman in December 2025, succeeding CSP Adewale Osifeso said that there are lots of differences between the two cases.

The experienced police officer gave his submissions while featuring on a Fresh FM Nigeria’s programme anchored by Abolade Salami on Sunday morning and it was monitored by PMParrot.

Ayanlade said the police did not have any reason to engage in what he called ‘selective approach’ to the two cases adding that the two scenarios leading to the dastardly acts by the men of the underworld were entirely different.

“We are still doing our best to free the Oriire LGA victims from their abductors,” he said.

Continuing, the police officer said “those people who kidnapped the twins and their mother were seen but nobody said anything. Our people should feel free to give out correct information to the police. They must be discreet too. We have competent officers who will treat your information as confidential. It is our collective duty to ensure that our country is freed of criminals.

Ayanlade also used the opportunity to plead with Nigerians to always volunteer information to security operatives especially the police.

His words, “policemen are not wizards, they need intelligence reports, authentic pieces of information that will help us to protect the nation.”

He then went ahead to warn those in the habit of spreading fake news.

“Some people are just tell-bent on causing disharmony in the country. When they float fake news or raise false alarm, the police and other security agencies are made to waste time and resources. Nigerians also record losses.

He recollected the day someone spread the news of a curfew in Ibadan all because of gaining online followers or in their quest to become online emergency celebrity.

“Some of these folks are directly sponsored to cause disharmony in the land. Our people should learn decorum. Of course, we have made arrests.”

DSP Ayanlade previously served as the spokesperson of the Ondo State Police Command before being redeployed to Oyo State. He is a graduate of the Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, Kano State, and holds a degree in Sociology.

As of June 2026, he continues to serve as the Oyo Police Command’s spokesman and regularly issues official statements on security matters in the state.
