The Headies have postponed the 18th edition of the music awards to April 10 and 11, 2027, in Toronto, Canada.
The ceremony was initially scheduled to be held this year, but the organisers said the change would allow them to expand activities in Nigeria and Canada ahead of the main event. Nigeria oil sector
The announcement was made in a statement posted on the awards’ official Instagram page.
“The road to the 18th Headies continues. We’re expanding the programme in Nigeria and Canada ahead of our Toronto finale, now scheduled for April 10 and 11, 2027,” the statement read.
The organisers added that activities under the Road to The Headies programme would continue during the original event period, with further details to be announced through their official channels.
They also apologised to guests who had already made travel arrangements for the inconvenience caused by the postponement.
“To guests who have already made travel plans and other arrangements, we sincerely apologise for the inconvenience. Thank you for your patience and continued support. Further programme updates and guest information will be shared here,” the statement added.
The 18th edition of The Headies is expected to recognise outstanding achievements in African music.
