The tension is building ahead of the highly anticipated Beyond the Ropes boxing event as Oluwatosin Adeshina, popularly known as Destiny Boy, and Taofeek Ganiyu, nicknamed Africa Lion Tearboxer, prepare for their explosive showdown scheduled for October 24, 2026.
Destiny Boy was in Ibadan over the weekend, where he staged a street show to connect with his teeming fans and build anticipation ahead of the eagerly awaited bout.
Boxing enthusiasts turned out in large numbers at the Ashi Junction rail line to watch the former Ibadan-based boxer showcase his skills. Now under the management of Firo Boxing Promotions, Destiny Boy thrilled spectators with shadowboxing and pad work alongside his trainer, offering fans a glimpse of his preparation and determination ahead of the contest.
The atmosphere was charged with anticipation as the boxers focused on their training, sending a clear message to their opponents that they are ready for the challenge. Destiny Boy insists that his time has come, while Africa Lion Tearboxer has vowed to tear his opponent apart when they finally meet in the ring.
Speaking with journalists in Ibadan, the Chief Executive Officer of Firo Boxing Promotions, Tijani Taofeek Adedamola, explained that the road shows organised for boxers featuring on the October 24 fight card were designed to strengthen their connection with local communities and supporters.
According to him, the initiative provides fighters with an opportunity to interact directly with their fans while fostering a deeper sense of belonging within the communities that support them.
“Boxing has evolved as a means of livelihood for young Nigerian boxers; hence, we’re supporting them at Firo Entertainment and creating a platform for them to realise their dreams and showcase their talents,” Adedamola said.
The initiative reflects the promotion’s commitment to grassroots boxing development, creating visibility for emerging talents and positioning the sport as a viable career path for young Nigerians.
For Destiny Boy, the bout represents an opportunity to affirm his growing reputation and demonstrate that his ambitions are within reach. For the Africa Lion Tearboxer, the mission is clear: stop his opponent and establish his own dominance.
The venue is Araromi Stadium, Gbagada, along Bariga Road, Lagos, while the guest artist is 9ice, and the boxing show is sanctioned by the Nigerian Boxing Board of Control (NBBofC) and supported by Hon. Morufu Idowu Alli-Balogun.
