The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Oyo State on Community Relations, Mrs Adekemi Opatunde, has brushed aside claims of using roadshows to manipulate people to vote for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming elections in the state.

Opatunde dismissed the vote-buying allegation while addressing journalists on Wednesday in Ibadan during the weeklong campaign roadshow organised by the governor’s wife, Mrs Florence Ajimobi.

According to her, the roadshow is an appreciative gesture towards the people of the state for the support given to the Abiola Ajimobi-led  administration since inception.

“The roadshow is not for vote-buying, rather, we are trying to appreciate the good people of state for their support in the last eight years.

“It is also provided us with the opportunity to engage the people and sensitise them on our plans in the next four years.

Opatunde, who lauded the initiative of the governor’s wife, described her as an exceptional and kind woman who has good intentions for the state and its development.

She said that the senatorial ambition of the governor was a step in the right direction given Ajimobi’s experience and intellect.

According to her, “Ajimobi with his experience as former Minority Leader and governor in Oyo State, will further bring more developmental projects to Oyo State. He is going there not because of money but the interest of the people he want to represent

“Essentially, the interest and demands of the people across that constituency should be expressed, most importantly they should pass laws that deals with or reflect the wills of the people and also National interest.

Opatunle urged the electorate not to sell their votes and vote wisely en-masse to bring in the right candidate
