Students of the Ekiti State College of Health Sciences and Technology, Ijero EkitiĀ on Wednesday, embarked on violent demonstration after some students of the institution allegedly inhaled harmful substances during a fumigation exercise carried out in the institution.
Speaking with PMParrot, a source who craved for anonymity stated that many of the students fainted when they inhaled the chemical substances duringĀ the fumigation exercise.
PMParrot also gathered that properties worth millions of naira were destroyed by the rampaging students of the institution including vehicles of lecturers among others.
Some of the staff of the college informed that the students went on rampage thereby causing staff members of the institution to scamper for safety.
Some of the staff members of the school also confirmed to PMParrot that they escaped through a nearby bush after the students began their violent protest.
It was further revealed that those with critical conditions have been rushed to the Federal Teaching Hospital, Ido Ekiti for proper medical attention.
Reacting, some parents of the students urged the Ekiti state government to beef up security around the college’s premises to prevent further destruction of properties.
Efforts to speak with the Registrar of the college, Mrs. Caroline Ogunsakin proved abortive as several calls made to her mobile line were not answered as at the time of filing this report.
Meanwhile, the Dr Kayode Fayemi-led government in the state has reacted and ordered that a thorough investigation should be carried out to find out what actually happened.
