Buhari Cannot Win Battle Against Corruption- Islamic Cleric, Sheik Lukman

An Islamic cleric and scholar from the University of Ilorin, Sheik Lukman Mukhtar Isale-Koto Al-Ilory has emphatically said that President Muhammadu Buhari cannot win the battle against corruption ravaging the country.

Sheik Mukhtar, who is a lecturer at the Department of Accountancy stated this in Ibadan at the official inauguration ceremony of Nasrul-Lahi-L-Fatih Society (NASFAT) Akobo branch held at Basorun Akobo Estate Central Mosque.

The Islamic cleric, while presenting his lecture on the topic, “Corruption; Causes, Effects and Way Out: Islamic Perspective”, explained that corruption in Nigeria has become an epidemic that has ravaged the entire system in the country.

He opined that Nigeria’s political system that has been corrupted opened other systems such as economic, social, environmental and others to corruption.

The Islamic scholar disclosed that whoever is living above his or her earning or accept gratification of any form without any service rendered possesses a tendency of being corrupt.

Sheik Mukhtar noted that it will be difficult for President Muhammadu Buhari to win the battle against corruption ravaging the country because he does not have all the required ingredients to win the battle.

He established that in order to win the battle against corruption required three ingredients of integrity, energy and knowledge and wisdom. Sheik Mukhtar, however, added that President Muhammadu Buhari’s integrity alone is not enough to fight corruption without required energy and knowledge and wisdom which have put the President in a disadvantaged position because of his old age.

He also disclosed that it is not very clear whether people working with the President really share his principle, decision and determination to fight corruption and put the country in her rightful position among comity of nations.

The guest lecturer advised the people to support the president in the fight against corruption by involving the people of integrity and unquestionable character in politics, particularly at the grassroots in order to get rid of agents of corruption in the political system of the country.
