Nigeria Professional Football League champions, Enugu Rangers are now in a tight spot in this year CAF Confederation Cup play-offs as they were held to a 2-2 draw by Zambian club Zesco United in the first leg clash on Sunday at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu.
The Flying Antelopes, who had to drop down to the qualifying stages for the second-tier Confederation Cup after their 5-3 defeat in the hands of Zamalek of Egypt, took the lead through Osas Okoro’s 24th minute penalty.
Rangers built on the lively opening but were doomed following their inability to convert begging chances as they took a slim lead to the half time break. In the 46th minute, Okoro doubled his side’s lead.
Zesco however gave themselves some hope of getting a positive result in the 73rd minute through David Owino’s goal and then scored again five minutes later off the boots of Patrick Kongolo, thereby making the return leg next week Thursday a difficult task for Rangers.
