IVTEC: KWSG To Sponsor 85 Students Yearly

The Kwara State government has said it will sponsor 85 students yearly for training at the International Vocational Technical and Entrepreneurship College (IVTEC) Ajase-ipo.

This was disclosed by Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed while featuring on a popular radio program called ‘Governor Explains’ today in Ilorin, the State capital. Alhaji Ahmed said five students will be drawn from each of the sixteen LG councils in the state based on the World Bank’s register of the vulnerable.

Additionally, he said College’s model was based on sponsorship of students by companies, government and private individuals.

The governor also revealed that the World Bank had expressed interest to partner the State government to train 17,000 vulnerable youths in the State at the College.

According to him, the tuition fee of the college consist of the feeding , free medical and free equipment, internet facilities, tools, and accreditation for City and Guilds of London examination.

Governor Ahmed noted that the college was established to equip youth with skills to tackle unemployment and ease access to vocational training of international standard.

Governor Ahmed added that it is the resolve of his administration to make Kwara a net exporter of vocational and technical skills once local needs have been met.
