Despite being bereaved, King of World Beats, Sunny Ade still took control of his acts and gave an excellent account of himself at the recently held Faaji Repete, a musical show organized to promote the Goldberg brand on the stable of the Nigerian Breweries Plc.
The event, which took place recently at the Trans Amusement Park in Ibadan was one that got fuji, juju and hip hop music enthusiasts bubbling with joy.
Moments before the event started, news had filtered in that King Sunny Ade had earlier lost one of his children.
One of the organizers expressed worries to PMParrot but his fears were allayed by one of KSA’s junior friends present at the venue.
Said KSA’s friend “Nobody should worry. King is a man of God and takes his solace only from God. All we can do for him is to pray for him for the fortitude to bear the loss. He is highly spiritual and will cope by God’s grace. He is equally a professional who knows his onions. He knows he must be here to do his best and he will come in time.”
As if he was listening to this submission by his friend, KSA just drove into the venue and was ushered onto the stage almost immediately.
He opened up his act with one his most popular productions and he allowed his audience to sing along with him saying ‘…baba adura rora mi a gbese, emi na n ba wi yen o, Olorun mi, ma je ki ogun aye bo mi mole, eyi ni mo fe o, Olorun mi…”
After this emotional rendition, he then invited the compere of the day, Odunlade Adekola to engage him in a dancing competition. The whole arena erupted as the duo danced to the admiration of all.
Afterwards, the King of World Beats left the venue around 2 am to embark on another journey to Ile Ife, in Osun State where he had another outing.
The show continued as the day promised to be one never to be forgotten as it provided the opportunity needed to see two fuji icons – Wasiu Ayinde Marshal K1 and Saheed Akorede Osupa as they united.
The two music stars, according to PMParrot reporter who was live at the event, arrived the venue separately at different times but were arranged by the protocol officials to seat together.
The first to arrive was K1 de Ultimate who was ushered in while King Sunny Ade was still on the stage performing live.
Moments after, King Saheed Osupa came into the arena with his retinue of aides and was thus, asked to sit beside K1.
As he approached K1, the attention of the audience was drawn to them because many expected them to shun one another.
This was not the case as they both embraced. This drew a large ovation. They both sat together and this attracted another round of applause from the audience.
The musical show itself which was the grand finale of Ariya Repete 2018 which was used to pick the best fuji, juju and drumming groups in the South West of Nigeria.
In addition to King Sunny Ade, Saheed Osupa and K1, other musicians on parade at the event included Ajobiewe, Taye Currency and Kiss Daniel.
