As youths are taking over the mantle of leadership in the country, the Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin has called youths in the state to re-strategize so as to be able to attain positions of authority.

Hon. Ogundoyin gave the advice while delivering the keynote address at the 2nd Oyo State Youth Summit organized by the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Oyo State chapter held on Wednesday at Mauve 21 Event Centre, Ring Road, Ibadan with the theme “Young People Renegotiating Development Plan: Turning Our Demographic Dividends To Gains.”

Hon. Ogundoyin, while describing politics as a vehicle to attain political power, challenged youths to wake up from their slumber and get involved actively in the political activities of the country. He implored them to partake more in issues of national discourse, rather than in the act of thuggery and hooliganism.

The Oyo State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Bar. Mutiu Agboke in his goodwill message, reiterated that youths in the country need to demonstrate readiness and genuine commitment to lead by discovering their true personality, participation in the issue of national discourse and registering their voice in the electioneering processes.

He charged them to take responsibility of liberating the country from the shackle of bad governance and answer in one voice to the yearning of the populace.

Spiritual Father, Shafaudeen In Islam Worldwide and Patron, National Youth Council of Nigeria, Professor Sabit Olagoke Ariyo, identified attitudinal factor as a major problem confronting Nigerian youths, hence the need for collaborative effort of media and relevant agencies for the purpose of reorientation.

Prof. Olagoke advised youths to take advantage of ‘Not too Young to Run Law’ to establish themselves in the political terrain of the country.

The National Youth Council of Nigeria, therefore, used the occasion to confer on the Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon.Adebo Ogundoyin, an award of Fellow of the Council, for championing the cause of the youth, Bar.
