The Oluwarotimi Akeredolu-led government in Ondo State has called on land owners across the 18 Local Government Areas to obtain proper building approval from the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development in the state before embarking on any construction.
This was made known by the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Alhaji Rasheed Badmus, while speaking with the journalists in Akure, he stated that there were extant laws guiding construction of buildings in the state that developers have to adhere strictly to.
The Commissioner added that it was necessary for land owners to visit the Ministry for requisite knowledge in order to maintain a balanced and conventional town planning structure in the state.
He emphasized that any organization that intends to build any worship center, residence, commercial, educational institution among others should seek advice from the ministry before embarking on their project.
He further urged people living in dilapidated buildings and occupants of buildings under high tension power lines to vacate such buildings for safety of their lives and properties.
Alhaji Badmus, however commended house owners who have adhered to the rules and regulations guiding constructions in the state, describing them as loyal and law abiding citizens, noting that a well planned state will not just improve aesthetically but will attract investors from within and outside the State.
