The Chairman of Ibadan North Local Government Area, Honourable Yusuff Sahib Oladayo popularly called Agba Egbe recently joined aides of Oyo’s Governor Seyi Makinde to evacuate beggars and other destitute people to Akinyele.
While speaking with Parrot Xtra on why he decided to collaborate with others on this project, the astute politician said “Engineer Seyi Makinde’s administration made a promise to combat crime to the barest minimum – this prompted our collaboration with the state government to see to the evacuation and demolition of abandoned and deserted houses/hideouts suspected to be an abode for criminals terrorizing the state.
“That was why I joined the Hon. Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Dr Wasiu Olatubosun, Hon. Commissioner for Environment and natural resources, Hon. Commissioner for local government and chieftaincy matters, Hon. Commissioner for women affairs and the senior special adviser on security to his Excellency the governor.
“Together, we all saw to the evacuation of the beggars and stranded persons to the newly constructed and equipped resettlement centre situated in Akinyele Local Government and also the demolition of deserted houses suspected to be the abode for suspected criminals after prompt notification to the occupiers.
“It is our obligation as a government that is closer to the grassroot, to maintain a sane society, maintain law and order so that our people can continue to have the right environment to conduct their legitimate businesses in Ibadan North Local Government.”
