Yoruba freedom fighter, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, Sunday Igboho has claimed that he had about two million naira in one of his cupboards in his house on Thursday morning when he escaped from the men of the Department of State Security Service (DSS) who raided his house.

In a viral interview he granted the BBC News (pidgin) shortly after he escaped from being nabbed by the secret police, Igboho said he did not know why he was being hounded.

Curiously, the said two million naira was not listed in the document containing items recovered from the home of the freedom fighter.

Readers can check out the official list of recovered items according to the submission of Dr Peter Afunanya on Thursday evening:

  1. Seven (7) AK-47 assault rifles;
  2. Three (3) Pump Action guns;
  3. Thirty (30) fully charged AK-47 magazines;
  4. Five Thousand (5,000) rounds of 7.62mm ammunition;
  5. Five (5) Cutlasses, One (1) Jack knife, One (1) Pen Knife
  6. Two (2) Pistol holsters;
  7. One (1) binoculars
  8. A wallet containing Five (5) US Dollars in one (1) Dollar denomination; local and international driver’s licences in his name, ATM Cards, a German residence permit No. YO2N6K1NY bearing his name;

  • Three Voodoo charm jackets/traditional body armour;

Even though Dr Peter Afunanya said at the end of the statement that further exploitation and forensic analysis were ongoing, observers have urged DSS to, as a matter of urgency confirm if the said two million was seen and left within the house of Sunday Igboho.

Another observer informed PMParrot opined “Igboho could have said this as a way of implicating the officers and men who raided his house. Afterall, all is fair in war.”
